yellow girl

My aunt has been a big influence on me. She is this tall, blonde barbie doll of a woman who loves ACDC and used to own a motorcycle and would ride it in her high heels. Yes, its all true. But she also knits and sews and she loves making those little crafty things that maybe only grandmas or crazy cat ladies make. I'm talking little stuffed animal cats holding wooden signs that say HAPPY HALLOWEEN. Or little dolls who wear aprons that say what month it is. Do you know what I mean? She is one of my idols. If I have bought high heel shoes with wooden bottoms (anytime I see a high heel wooden clog I think AUNT DONNA SHOESSSSSS), its because they reminded me of her. Do you ever do that? Buy something to wear because it reminds you of someone you miss?A friend from work gave me this cardigan that I never would have bought on my own, but I have gotten so many compliments on it.

This little sweater clip is an awesome accessory. I like to use mine to clip a scarf together or clip it on the collar of a shirt.
I don't know why I brought up my aunt, but I really miss her. She lives 3-4 hours away and I found out that I won't see her this Thanksgiving, which is the holiday I associate with going to her house. I used to worship her old house, the way she decorated it and the way it smelled.

This blouse was the first blouse I purchased from Anthro, back when I worked there for 25 seconds.
My aunt gave me her old sewing machine, which kicked the bucket some months ago. I finally broke down and bought one from target. I've been using it lately, and its like a Ferrari. I'm so used to the old, steady slow pacing of the old machine. But this new one is so fast and powerful! I yell, 'whoa, boy! whoooooooooa' when I sew now.
I mostly upcycle my old clothes and make something new to just get better at sewing in general.

Oh whoops. I wore the green shoes in my last post. Oh well!

These are my fave earrings. Such an interesting design, it looks so exotic-is it indian? Chinese? Awesome? Yes.
I should take pix of some of the things I've been making lately. I think it'd be neat to be able to make something great enough to sell on etsy along with the necklaces! I could be a one woman force of amazingness!
